2022 was one of the best, but also one of the worst years of my life. To help me deal the stress, I turned to bands like Overkill for comfort. Initially, I wasn’t a fan because of Bobby “Blitz” Ellsworth’s raspy vocals, but I grew to appreciate his vocals because there’s no one else that sounds like him. The album that immediately caught my eye was The Electric Age (2012) because of the song, “Wish You Were Dead.” The Electric Age has exactly what you would expect from Overkill with D.D. Verni’s menacing bass lines, Bobby Blitz’s signature growls, blistering guitar riffs, and an unapologetic attitude. With all that said, let’s get on with the music!

I saw Overkill open for King Diamond a few years ago and they were absolutely fantastic. The other opener was a band called Night Demon, who were lame as hell. Then Overkill came out and went scorched earth. It was awesome.

Oh, are you talking about the Saint Lucifer’s Hospital 1920 tour from 2024? I wanted to see that tour and they were playing Las Vegas, but I was seeing The Black Crowes already and couldn’t extend the trip longer. That’s cool you saw that tour! Sorry you didn’t like Night Demon, though. Their albums are great!
