A Magical Day at Magic Kingdom | DCP Fall 2022

On Monday, September 12, 2022, I had the day off, so I went to Magic Kingdom! It’s my favorite of the four Walt Disney World theme parks, so that shouldn’t have been a surprise to you guys. However, this was a special day (or should I say afternoon/evening) because I had dining reservations at Cinderella’s Royal Table with my friend from the Disney Ohana Club and her mom. That’s right, people! I had plans to eat dinner inside Cinderella’s castle during the fireworks show.

I took the 1:25 p.m. bus to the Ticket and Transportation Center, I arrived at 1:57 p.m., and entered Magic Kingdom between 2:00-2:30 p.m. Or somewhere around there; I forgot to write down what time I arrived at the park. Anyways, the weather was bright and sunny, probably too sunny for me. I wanted to avoid sweating as much as possible, so I decided to cool off by getting in line to meet Mickey and Minnie at Town Square Theater in Main Street, U.S.A. I only waited an hour to meet them, which was nothing compared to how long I waited to meet Rock ‘n’ Roll Stitch at the Halloween Party. 

To be honest, I only expected to meet Mickey because that was usually the case. Mickey usually met guests at Town Square Theater by himself, at least, that’s what I thought. I didn’t read the tip board with the attractions and wait times on the My Disney Experience app clearly. So, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw both Mickey and Minnie waiting to meet guests in the theater.

Obviously, I was underdressed compared to Mickey and Minnie’s WDW 50th anniversary outfits. I had my gray and purple walking shoes, black bracelets, black pants, dark blueish green striped top, and my Def Leppard hat on backwards. Who cares, though, because Mickey and Minnie were so adorable and we had a laugh about how their outfits were nicer than mine.

After meeting Mickey and Minnie, I headed to Adventureland to do something. I decided on a whim to do ‘The Magic Carpets of Aladdin,’ which I’ve never done before. It’s basically Adventureland’s version of ‘Dumbo the Flying Elephant.’ I accidentally sat in the back row, so I never got to control how high the carpet flew. But that’s ok, you live and learn! The ride was still fun and I got a great view of the land spinning above me.

Then, I met up with my friend and her mom at the Columbia Harbour House to get a snack. I got the Happy Haunts Milk Shake. According to the menu, it was a blackberry milkshake with a purple chocolate-glazed donut covered with black sprinkles. It was yummy, but it was also very messy because the milkshake melted fast. I struggled to get a good picture of it, but I tried my best!

After our snack, the three of us headed to Tomorrowland to do ‘Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress.’ I’ve always wanted to see this show, but I never made the time for it because I’m always on-the-go at Magic Kingdom; maybe that’s why I sweat a lot when I go to theme parks. I really enjoyed ‘Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress’ because it was a 20 minute show in an air conditioned room, the song was catchy as heck, and I liked the concept of exploring the evolution of technology. However, it was terrifying seeing the theater rotate every time the next act appeared. I’ve never seen anything like that before.

When the ride was done, my friend and her mom had a Lightning Lane for ‘Jungle Cruise,’ so I parted ways with them for a bit. I did ‘Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor,’ which was hilarious as usual, and then, I went to Fantasyland to do the ‘Mad Tea Party.’ I didn’t get to do the attraction right away, however, because at about 6:00 p.m., the rain came down hard. Thankfully, I was patiently waiting inside a tea cup for the storm to pass, so I was safe from the chaos around me. After the rain stopped, I was able to do the ‘Mad Tea Party,’ which was really fun. Afterwards, I met up with my friend and her mom again to walk around Fantasyland for a bit before our dining reservations at 7:40 p.m.

First of all, the place was beautiful! Disney really does a great job when it comes to details and decorating a place. I got to meet Cinderella, which was awesome because I’ve never met a princess before. Again, I was underdressed, but hey, I have my own style and Cinderella has hers! Besides, I wouldn’t last five minutes in a ball gown, haha. This was my first time meeting a character that actually talks, so I was nervous at first, but Cinderella was really sweet and we ended up talking about how I met Mickey and Minnie earlier that day.

The theming of Cinderella’s Royal Table was incredible. Everything from the castle, the stained glass windows, the flags above us, the ceilings, the menu, the cast members’ costumes, the utensils, the bell sounds, and the food was amazing. I don’t know if Cinderella’s Royal Table is the fanciest restaurant I’ve ever dined at, but it’s one of those places, for sure! I got apple juice as a drink, Charcuterie as my appetizer, the ‘When Will My Life Begin Chicken and Pasta’ as an entrée, and ‘The Clock Strikes Twelve’ for dessert.

The Charcuterie had cured meats, pickles, crackers, and spreadings (not sure if that’s the right word for it) to put on the crackers. The ‘When Will My Life Begin’ pasta was served in a frying pan and was basically yellow pasta with braised chicken, pesto sauce, and flower and moss decorations. ‘The Clock Strikes Twelve’ was a chocolate mousse with a caramel filling and hazelnut gelato on the side. Everything was so good and I was pleasantly surprised with how filling the meals were. I saw pictures of the ‘When Will My Life Begin’ pasta online and I thought the portion size was too small, but with the appetizer and dessert, I was full! 

As mentioned earlier, I got to watch the ‘Disney Enchantment’ fireworks show inside the castle; the show started at about 9:00 p.m. It was really cool seeing the fireworks outside the windows and I loved hearing the message of never giving up on your dreams. At that very moment, I was reminded of why I love Disney so much! Disney is about hopes and dreams, and believing that anything is possible.

After the fireworks show, we left Cinderella’s castle to do ‘The Haunted Mansion,’ my favorite attraction in Magic Kingdom. I love it so much that I bought the purple, blue, and black tie-dye spirit jersey at the Memento Mori store near the attraction. This was also after I said goodnight to my friend and her mom. The sad thing is, I waited until after the cast member 50 percent off discount was gone to purchase the spirit jersey. For the past two months, I’ve been eying that spirit jersey, but I held back from buying it because I wanted to save my money. But I eventually gave in and spent about $64 on the cute, yet expensive Haunted Mansion spirit jersey.

Anyways, I bought the spirit jersey and then I left Magic Kingdom to take the bus back to Flamingo Crossings Village west side. I think I arrived back at the apartment around 10:30-11:30 p.m.

Long story short, it was another magical day at Magic Kingdom. Also, I don’t have enough words to say how thankful I am for my friend from the Disney Ohana Club because she’s been my rock and buddy throughout my Disney College Program so far. She’s also great at giving life advice, which is what I really need at this point in my “adult years.”
