My Top Six One Direction Songs

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a fan of One Direction because they were everywhere! You wouldn’t believe how many times I’ve heard “What Makes You Beautiful” on the radio or how many posters I had of them on my wall. I even bought a letterman jacket because of them. When Zayn Malik left One Direction in 2015, that’s when I realized I made a mistake in taking a break from their music. Though I don’t exactly listen to them as often as before, I thought it’d be fun to write about my top five One Direction songs. But I forgot how many great songs they had, so I ended up writing about six instead. So let’s get on with the list, shall we?

6. “One Thing” (2012)

“One Thing” was the first One Direction song that I really liked, sorry “What Makes You Beautiful.” Harry Styles was my favorite member, so part of the fun was singing all of his parts. I think this was also the first song I heard Louis Tomlinson’s voice for the first time, so that was a big moment for me.

5. “Better Than Words” (2013)

Midnight Memories (2013) transitioned the band into a darker sound, and there was a little bit of rock ‘n’ roll in there, so I was excited about that. The studio version of “Better Than Words” is good, but watch a live version of it! Styles spits water in the air at the beginning of the song, the girls go nuts when Niall Horan’s solo comes on, and this is the most sexual One Direction song ever. You see the point I’m trying to make?!?!?!

4. “If I Could Fly” (2015)

This song is so beautiful, what else can I say?!?!?! Every time I listen to it, I think of Styles and Tomlinson’s friendship because it reminds me of how close they were before and not so much now. At least we have this song where they harmonize together during the bridge. It’s a shame that One Direction never performed this one live. The closest thing we have is Styles performing it live during his solo tours, for which he did a great job.

3. “History” (2015)

Am I the only one who was crying on the inside when the music video showed clips of Zayn?!?!? Come on; I can’t be the only one. I always thought that this song was about him because the rest of One Direction have a lot of history with him, and when he left, it was like he was leaving them behind. “History” was the last single released by the group before their hiatus, and though it may seem like a sad song, I still believe that One Direction will get back together one day. Even if it’s just for a reunion tour, we just need something!

2. “Moments” (2012)

“Moments” reminds me of the younger days of One Direction and my years at intermediate school; I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. The band’s first album was excellent, but at the same time, all the members have grown up now and moved on from their youth. Time keeps moving so fast, and it’s scary! That doesn’t stop me from singing along to the chorus, however. Tomlinson’s vocals are unbelievable too. So pure and innocent, which was perfect for this song.

1. “Midnight Memories” (2014)

“Midnight Memories” is simply One Direction doing rock ‘n’ roll, and I love it! I tried to sing the high note Styles sings at the end of the bridge, and I’m pretty sure I’m almost always off-key, haha. The chorus is something you want to sing at the top of your lungs for sure! I find it funny that this is my favorite One Direction song because “Pour Some Sugar On Me” is my favorite Def Leppard song, and I’ve seen videos comparing the two songs together, which they sound very similar. So even before I got into Def Leppard, I was already a fan of Def Leppard!

Ok, but going back to One Direction, I’m glad all the members are doing well in their solo careers (Tomlinson’s solo album is amazing), but nothing will compare to when they were together. They could reunite one day, who knows!

Let me know what your favorite One Direction song is down in the comments below!

Take care and see ya real soon!
