I’ve never watched so much YouTube in my entire life, let alone in one day! Though I do enjoy it, it’s nice to take a break once in a while. There are other ways to stay busy during the summer that doesn’t require staring at your computer screen for a long time. For today’s post, I’ll be sharing five ways to make the best of summer 2020 without the use of YouTube!
1. Go for a walk around the neighborhood.
After being cooped in the house for nearly two months, going for a walk outside was like a breath of fresh air, literally! It’s a great way to get out of the house and clear your thoughts; you’d be surprised by the beautiful scenery you may encounter as well!
2. Update your music playlist.
Never underestimate how long it takes to perfect a Spotify playlist!!! I made an AC/DC playlist this past June, and it took me 12 hours to complete it. It was so worth it, though, because I love that playlist, and I blast it whenever I get the chance to. It’s something to keep you busy and who knows, there may be some songs on there you’re not a fan of anymore. Now is the time to add new songs and get rid of the old ones to make your playlist even better! You may end up with three new playlists in one week, at least that’s what happened to me.
3. Learn how to draw.
I love drawing because it makes me forget about my worries since I’m focused on perfecting the details on my latest piece. Drawing teaches you proportion, shape, and patience since it’s very time consuming, and personally, it’s a great skill to have! I’ve mastered cartoon drawings, but now I’m striving to draw human figures, which proved to be a lot harder than I thought.
4. Clean and tidy up your room.
My room has a lot to improve on, then again, isn’t that the same for everyone? I still have toys and backpacks that I can’t even remember when’s the last time I used them. So I plan to go through everything I own and declutter my mess once and for all! You’ll feel a lot better knowing your room is cleaner and know where everything goes.
5. Write out your feelings.
Whether that be through a journal, a blog post, or a diary, write out what you’re going through. I’ve taken comfort in writing out my thoughts and emotions I’ve been experiencing during this pandemic. But these emotions can be about anything; they can be about a movie you recently watched. I use my blog to write about topics of interest such as music, movies, and anything pop culture. I get to share my opinions on the music I listen to, what was great and what was not great. It’s good to let out your emotions in a healthy way, so writing about it is the perfect way to do so!
